Random Snaps Of My Day READ HERE

Just a day in my life. An ordinary day. But every day is special in some way.

The water gardens are doing great. We've had a ton of rain. So they keep getting very full.

Some changes have been going on inside.

The mums are budding out. Soon they will bloom. Then I'll cut them back. And they will bloom again come fall.

The peach colored cone flower has bloomed.

A Walk At The Rose Garden READ HERE

I love the rose garden at Woodward park.

Beautiful roses in so many colors.

And the smell is intoxicating.

Do you have a favorite color?

Sunday On The Patio READ HERE

Every year I plant the famous blue morning glories, and some pink ones as well, and they don't come up.

Instead, I have these wild ones that sprout up in every little crack and bloom like crazy. I suppose I will have to be satisfied with purple their dark purple blooms.

I'd just like a little variety!

The leaves are quite large.

It looks like this cone flower is going to be coral. I had also planted white ones last year. But apparently they didn't make it through the winter.

The water gardens are doing great. Growing in leaps and bounds. I love to listen to the sound of the water.

There are at least 10 tomatoes on this one plant.

And a few strawberries. I've added a pepper plant too.

The angel seems to be surrounded with blooms.

I hope you enjoy your day digging in the garden.

Something New On The Patio & A Patio Tip READ HERE

There is something new on the patio today, courtesy of Wayfair. Thanks, Wayfair!

See what it is?

A solar bird bath for the patio birds. The last bird bath I had, a squirrel tipped the top over and broke it. This top screws in to the base, and therefore won't be easy to tip over. Plus it's quite heavy.

See the cute little turtles on each side. They came separately with a spike that goes in the two holes where they're situated.

My objective is to a have a natural wildlife habitat in the city on an apartment patio. And it can be done.

I've also got a tip for you if you have cement gaps in your patio flooring. Whenever I'm watering I'm always hitting that and dirt comes up and makes a mess.

Here is my answer...

The flat marbles I've collected over the years and brought from Texas are a temporary fix now, as they aren't yet glued down. I'll get to that later. But this will keep weeds from growing up through this long gap.

Notice how I arranged the marbles so it looks like they're spilling out of the driftwood?

To get a better idea of how big this patio is, and some of you have asked me about this, see how much concrete patio there is before you even get to the gazebo by the back patio doors.

See the edge of the gazebo? So there's at least ten feet back once you see that. The gazebo is 10 feet by 10 feet. Not sure if that is from pole to pole or not.

While I was digging around for my box of marbles, I came across this little glass jar of beads. I brought them out here because the colorful beads are pretty when the sun hits them.

Well, hope you have nice weather and can enjoy some gardening this weekend!

Also I wanted you to know that Primitive Star Quilt Shop is having a giveaway for Mother's Day, so you should go over there and enter here.

Garden Art DIYs READ HERE

I love trash-to-treasure projects. And these are perfect projects for your gardens.

(source)
For this project, all you need is a pot on a pedestal of some sort. And a regular pot or bowl for the bird bath.

Here's how this one was constructed...

Everyone could use a garden angel to look out over and guard their gardens. What a sweet addition to your flowering spaces.

Dollar store bowls and branches can become mushrooms out in your garden.

Save those jars and create hanging illumination along your fence outdoors with candles.

(source)

Stacked dishware, glued together, makes for a nice piece of vertical art to put in your garden among the flowers.

(source)
If you can get your hands on bowling balls, you can make this marble-covered piece of art for your garden space.

(source)
Save old cans. Have your friends and family save them for you too. And before you know it, you'll have enough to make this vertical garden.

From My Window... READ HERE

This is my view of the patio from inside...

On the right is the table where I eat. On the left is my desk.

I am enjoying my new view immensely.

This is my view from my bedroom window.

Even though I have only a few windows, I try to make sure that what I see out of them is something that makes me smile.

NOTE: I have been getting emails asking for the link to my gazebo. Here it is.
